Lessons from the Dance Floor

All the lessons you need for life can be learned on the dance floor:

be patient

be curious

breathe deeply

move only when you're ready

follow through

explore something new every day

dive deeper each time but just a little bit

trust yourself above all else

finish; don't just stop

and be brave.

Christine,
I remember writing about my love and experience of aesthetic education. I didn't know that I was working in aesthetic education. I didn't know that term for a while, but one of my teachers and mentors introduced me to the idea. I remember writing a reflective piece on what aesthetic education meant to me, to which my teacher responded that I could someday write a book on what I had started.

Anyway, I remember writing that aesthetic education helps us to understand we can make no real mistakes in this life. That all "mistakes" are lessons and footsteps and paths to other places. I remember writing that our greatest mistake is not living at all, allowing fear to paralyze us.

Your post and this practice made me think of that.

I also remember reading a post on children's Yoga. Calling the restless thoughts of the mind the "quandaries." The children drew a picture of little green blogs with Viking helmets on and spaids. It was so funny and actually really helpful for me to put some language--not so scary and serious language--to my restless mind.

Thank you for your posts. They continue to inspire.
